Western Railroad Discussion > Tijuana - Tecate Tourist Train !Date: 11/19/11 18:19 Tijuana - Tecate Tourist Train ! Author: zuco74 This afternoon on our way to Ensenada Mx from Mexicali, my wife and I decided to take a drive thru downtown Tecate. As we drove near the Tecate brewery I noticed the Tijuana to Tecate tourist train idling by. I had to flip a U turn and capture a few shots of this train. This was the first time I had ever seen it - in pictures or in person.
I need to find out the schedule since I have no idea when it runs. We will have to make plans to ride it soon ! 1) SDIV #3861 is the lone power on the TJ - Tecate Tourist Train 2) The passenger coaches are ex-Metra if I am not mistaken ! 3) The Carrizo Gorge logo is displayed here ! Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 11/19/11 18:24 by zuco74. Date: 11/19/11 18:21 Re: Tijuana - Tecate Tourist Train ! Author: zuco74 4) One last shot of the logos that appear on each of the 3 cars. Baja California does a good job to promote tourism in the region!
Thanks for looking ! Tony Date: 11/19/11 18:40 Re: Tijuana - Tecate Tourist Train ! Author: SP4810 Awesome Pics Tony!

Author: tmengineman Interesting to note the popularity of threads based on rare movements south of the border vs. some silly tea kettle north of the border... (kidding!) But when I'd post on CZRY movements, it'd be rare to get a lively conversation. Nice to read your post, and I appreciate the pics! I often wonder when/if CZRY will think about opening/daylighting the tunnel just S of the border that collapsed, allowing PSRM to once again run cross-border trains. It seems almost vindictive that they (CZRY) don't seem to want to lift a finger to solicit volunteers to assist with clearing the line. Wasn't it almost a volunteer effort that opened tunnel 8 and 16 while CZRY was being formalized? (I could be reading this all wrong, I am 1200miles away nowadays...)

Author: SBC_1344 Nice pics Tony, yeah they are ex-Metra, nee C&NW. Admicarga uses three for the Tijuana-Tecate Tourist Train. There are five more stored on Dubbers Spur east of Jacumba, plus a cabcar in the Campo House track, making a total of nine bilevels on the line.

Would it be possible to use that cab car for this train? probably not right? Tony Date: 11/23/11 15:43 Re: Tijuana - Tecate Tourist Train ! Author: SBC_1344 zuco74 Wrote:

I have some pics of that on http://sbc1344.rrpicturearchives.net but the locomotives were always coupled to the cab car, they also used CZRY 1195 attached to the back to provide HEP for HVAC purposes. Too bad they don“t use more cars per run, including CZRY 1195... Date: 12/14/11 11:21 Re: Tijuana - Tecate Tourist Train ! Author: iliketrains SBC_1344 Wrote:
