"Franklin Park (IL) Railroad Days..."
Author: aussiehinz

A variety of interesting display equipment on hand today at the Franklin Park Railroad Days Festival. In late afternoon, at the conclusion of the festival, I took a couple photos as the equipment made its way the short distance west toward CP's Bensenville Yard.

Cheers,

aussiehinz

Aussieheinz, I REALLY like the 2nd pic, I used to be a TM
for them (ICG).

Kind thanks. CN was well represented with the "IC" E-8, three business cars, and a (rather dirty) #8820.

Don't understand that E unit paint job. Did IC ever use that color scheme?

absolutely not. when I was there it was mainly orange and white and
some grey (GP 38 rebuilds from Paducah), then just plain, dreary BLACK

IC "used" that paint job during the post ICG "Death Star" epoch. I never liked it and thought they blew a great chance to resucitate the brown and orange when they bought those BN E units, but I'm sort of used to it now, and surprised they haven't been CN-ized like the other two that were CN olive green and yellow for a brief time.

brown and yellow was their "signature" passenger train colors,
"Panama Limited", ", City of New Orleans", but IMHO our power
never looked better than in Orange and White.

You would think CN would try to send out a CLEAN locomotive...then again, clean locomotives for RR days are probably the least of their worries.

Nice to see Canadian Pacific so well represented. Seriously, looks like UP sent over three units and CN sent over a bunch of stuff as well. Where was CP? Even though it's not the only railroad game in town, when I think of Bensenville and Franklin Park, I think of CP.

Nice photos and thanks for sharing!!

Tom

Haha. That CN unit. Wow, way to clean it up for the public.
