Western Railroad Discussion > Campo, CA Museum - any F-Units?Date: 10/22/05 16:13 Campo, CA Museum - any F-Units? Author: SP_8299 Quick question I hope someone can help with. I'd thought I'd heard somewhere that the museum down in Campo had recently acquired an F-unit with a snowplow pilot (ex-SP?). Is this true, and if so, anyone have a unit number?
Thanks PE Date: 10/22/05 17:53 Re: Campo, CA Museum - any F-Units? Author: TopcoatSmith Weren't those the three that came over Tehachapi a year or so ago? IIRC they were either ex-Alaska or USS (memory fades over thyme)

CZRy has 2 A units and 1 B unit, that I believe are stored unservicable in Jacumba. I might be wrong about the location and the status, but I don't think so.

I seem to recall a set of these came out to California or maybe the ones down there are ex Washington Central Just the rantings of a confused out fart Date: 10/22/05 20:57 Re: Campo, CA Museum - any F-Units? Author: casco17 Date: 10/22/05 21:03 F-Units at Campo Author: tmengineman This may have been why you thought the museum owned the F-Units. The F-Units belong to CZRY, but previously pulled the "Spirit of Washington" dinner trains. Here they pull the inaugural run of the newly restored RPO. That car *is* owned by the museum and is one nice piece of restoration!

They were originally Bessemer & Lake Erie units, then worked for US Steel out of Atlantic City, Wyoming, then were on the "Spirit of Washington" dinner train, before heading for the CG. Author: 6088 Yes, I do believe they went over Tehachapi on the way down here, and a friend of mine went along as a rider on the equipment, and he did get to ride through Tehachapi.... kinda a highlight for him.

I once caught a neat lashup: the museum's MRS-1 1820, CZRY 4324 Geep9 and Spirit F7 No. 102 Geep |
