Awhile back someone posted a picture of the SP4449 sporting a pair of UP wings. Can someone point to that thread as I can't seem to locate it.

Do a forum search for the author "Bob3985" OR Bob@CY".
Those are the 2 nicknames that Bob Krieger has used on Trainorders.
That posting was made by Bob Krieger just after the Portland UPHS convention.
I am happy that I was able to remember the author of that funny posting!

Call me crazy but I found this image a little offending. UP wings dont have a place on a classic SP steamer. BTW, why in the world is the engine wearing ditch lights?

I agree. Especially considering that for the past few years 4449 has been wearing BNSF colors, since UP wouldn't let her run on her home rails.

Thanks Daniel. And for the others, I do believe that Doyle and Bob are good friends, so a little prank is well within order for those two. But I do also believe that Doyle was no where around when they did it.

I recreated the "wings at Brooklyn" for Doyle after he got back from Canada. All he could do is laugh. After that, he had "that look" Doyle gets when he has an ingenious moment, "you know, if we were to get two of these, take one of the wings off, they could go in place of the "ball and wings" on the skirts"!

We have these wings mounted on the wall of the OR&N 197 World Headquarters, and everytime Doyle sees them, it always brings a smile or comment!
