When the BNSF bought the line from Sioux City to Aberdeen, did they also buy the the ex Milw. main line from Terry, Mont. to the South Dakota-Minnesota border? Thanks in advance for any info.

I believe BNSF already owned this portion of the old Milw. Road dating back to the demise of the Milw Road. In other words, the state of SD never owned it.

In 1982 the old Milwaukee line from Ortonville to Terry was sold to the State of South Dakota(South Dakota Rail Authority) and then leased to the BN. Ten years later the track was sold to BN. Have a good and safe day!
