Reflecting on the Malabar Switcher . . .
Author: CimaScrambler

The day after an infrequent rainstorm in Los Angeles, the Malabar Switcher waits on the BNSF Harbor Sub for UP Dispatcher 50 to let it cross the ex-SP harbor main at MP 2.8.

The single boxcar came from an industry at MP 8, which is just about the only industry between Malabar and El Segundo that is still served directly by the railroad.

Very nice shot! Your title caught my eye right away. I grew up on Malabar Street, south of the yard. Was that shot taken near the intersection of Slauson and Alameda?

Thanks for sharing your work. Enjoy the holidays!

The photo was taken from just west of Long Beach Blvd and Slauson Ave. A view the other direction would be of the SP diamond and the bridge that carries the Metro Blue Line over the Harbor Sub and Slauson Ave.
