Feather River Trip---Eastbound
Author: drew1946

Just going to post a few tonight from my two day chase of the Feather River special.

Before I say any more, this trip and the photos from it, would not have been possible without my wife, Bev. As some of you know, I suffer from chronic and severe back pain which decided to become worse last Thursday. Had it not been for her putting in two very long days behind the wheel, I could not have gone. Highway 70 is not the road to drive, or any other that matter, while taking narcotic pain drugs.

First two shots are on the Benecia-Martinez Bridge

Not quite sure of myself on FRC place names, but this is a little ways East of the "Honeymoon" tunnels

In the area East of Rich Bar, Serpantine Canyon I believe.

After this we went up to Keddie but it was 5PM so we called it a day and headed to Truckee for the night and dinner at OB's, what I think is the best restaurant in town.

More later.

hey drew isn't it great to have a wife that will do things like take you train chasing.i know about back problems and i give your wife two thumbs up for doing the driving so you can entertain your hobby. and great pictures. chuchubobnv and i were in FRC week after winterail and even though the weather stunk snow and rain and cold i still enjoyed it. we here in michigan don't have the scenery that they have out west. or least i don't know of many places.

Hey Drew!

What about the 'Squeeze Inn' for breakfast? Did you try it? Is it even still there? - I hope it is - it's a great omelet and breakfast joint.

We have some pics of YOU too Drew !! That shot of us rounding the lower Loop at James
reminds me that we got held up prior to entering the west portal of Tunnel 4 for about
20 minutes because we had a 'slowww' stacker ahead of us. I believe he was picking up
a bronco escort heading up as well. Do you guys remember seeing escorts in both
directions? Should have been. - The waterfalls 'were' spectacular!! Thanks for catching
that beautiful falls between T-18 & T-19. The area you described as 'east of the
Honeymoons' appears to be just east of T-20 after the big slide area. Great work Drew !!
So many meets . . so many delays . . It was 'tough' : >) 'Dogh

Yes, we saw both escorts, the one leading the stack train and the one you had from Keddie on down.

I will post some of the shots from yesterday later this afternoon.

You will notice that on Sunday I proved to all concerned that I DO own a pair of long pants!

On the locomotive on the point on Saturday, there was a small WP decal/metallic sign on the nose. You can see it on some of Drew's pictures.
