Western Railroad Discussion > Genesee and Wyoming stock recommendation on TV todayDate: 05/27/06 12:18 Genesee and Wyoming stock recommendation on TV today Author: pepperidge During the Saturday morning business news block on the Fox News Network today, one of the analysts recommended Genesee and Wyoming as a stock pick. She referred to G&W as "a shortlne railroad." Part of her rationale was the need to haul coal. Another chimed in that transportation stocks are hot right now. At the end, they put up a visual of G&W's competition: "Union Pacific, CSX, Norfolk Southern."
I know that G&W hauls coal in Pennsylvania and Illinois but I don't think of it primarily as a coal carrier. While I usually enjoy the commentary on "Bulls and Bears" and "Forbes on Fox," calling it a "shortline railroad" (singular), recommending it because it hauls some coal and listing class I railroads as its competition told me someone had not done a lot of homework. I'll stick with my own broker, thank you. Pepperidge Date: 05/27/06 16:14 Re: Genesee and Wyoming stock recommendation on TV toda Author: jasonlowe pepperidge Wrote:
