Yreka Western's "new" SD9
Author: odub

Still sporting the paint scheme applied when operating on the Tacoma Eastern, former SP SD9 has made it to the Yreka Western. Difficult to see is the "Stay on track. Don't get railroaded into drugs" inscription on the high hood just in front of the engineers window. Spotted in Yreka on Sunday, 6/11/06.

Awesome, notice the road number font is very Milwaukee-like.
Was it running or did the steamer drag it in? Should sound great.

The steamer dragged it in.

1. Sitting on at the north end of the interchange yard at Montague, CA the morning of June 10, with the CORP main in the foreground.

2. Being pulled dead-in-tow to Yreka by YW 19.

3. The frame number cross-reference ( http://www.trainweb.org/emdloco/20200.htm ) confirms its identity as former SP 4439, built as SP 5436 in May 1955

Gee, thought maybe Siskiyou county was having their own 'unveiling'.

Are the MRS-1 and SW8 dead?

No, I bought a cheap POS (or is it P&S?) digital camera.

The SW8's are dead for now. The MRS1 runs, but according to the folks I talked to, it's tempermental, and they couldn't get it to run right reliably.

Just like a woman: tempermental. Just talk nice, rub her in the right spots, and she will work for you....

Whaaaaaa??????????? I can't believe what I'm looking at here. The 7th I went south and the MRS-1 was at the station in Yreka. The 9th I was coming back north and it wasn't to be seen so I headed to Montague. I met it switching cars around just over the hill where you have the good view of Mt. Shasta. Then it idled up the hill by itself and into Yreka. I didn't dream that there might be something more to see at Montague.
