Arizona - Sunset Route Today
Author: jmw

I spent some time, about seven hours, along the UP between Casa Grande and Shawmut, AZ. On the average there were two trains an hour. However, there was a 2 1/2 hour gap in activity followed by 70 minutes of one train every 10 minutes. The weather was cooperative and the bugs weren't too bad. I was hoping for some good Ektachrome skies or maybe monsoon lightening but to no avail, nothing but blue skies. Lots of new Gevos and ACes, very few lease or run through units.

1. EB approaching the 83rd Ave grade crossing.
2. WB at West Shawmut
3. Stack trains meet at the East Shawmut switch.

Great shots. I sure do miss Southern Ariznoa railfanning. Your pics are as close as I'll get to it here in Honolulu.

I agree, the second image is really dramatic.
