Western Railroad Discussion > Speed Relative to a Fixed PositionDate: 10/28/06 12:51 Speed Relative to a Fixed Position Author: broken_link I had to dig through the photos that I shot over the past year to find a few that successfully demonstrated motion. As speed is a relative thing, this was difficult since I usually focus on using fast enough apertures to avoid motion blur. This task was made more difficult since the places that I enjoy shooting are not known for high speed trains but rather long freights grinding over mountain passes.
The first set of 3 shots are taken at Sandcut and depict the hurry up and wait scenario that the trains will face as they enter the Tehachapi bottleneck.
