Western Railroad Discussion > Sunset speedDate: 10/28/06 15:18 Sunset speed Author: mikey First a few from the Sunset Route:
1-3. A baretable speeds (and it really was speeding along) westward on the Yuma Sub between Niland and Mecca. Trailing was the only SP SD40R still running around at the time. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 10/28/06 15:20 Re: Sunset speed Author: mikey And now some speeeed shots taken after sunset--always a favorite time of day to that sort of thing.
1. On July 4, 2005, a UP freight train speeds eastward at Pinole while some patriotic pyrotechnic projectiles speed skyward. 2. A westbound BNSF vehicle train speeds by the signal at the east end of Christie siding in the Bay Area's Franklin Canyon. 3. An eastbound BNSF train out of Richmond speeeeds by the same signal behind a GEVO. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 10/28/06 15:32 Re: Sunset speed Author: mikey 1. A "bluebird" lease unit speeds east at Bahia, California.
2. A BNSF Highline train descends out of the Feather River Canyon at Kramm at sunset back in July. 3. A couple brand-new SD70ACes lead an IOADVX eastward along the shores of San Pablo Bay between Hercules and Rodeo, California. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 10/28/06 15:35 Re: Sunset speed Author: mikey 1. A former SP tunnel motor tries to gain some speed at Mulford, California.
2 & 3. The northbound Z train blows past a southbound with a sick-sounding Dash 8 at Grass Lake, California. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 10/28/06 15:39 Re: Sunset speed Author: mikey These aren't exactly sunset shots, but when the train only runs after sunset you have to take a shot in the dark.
In these three shots, the GGRM equipment move using some of Portola's nice WP equipment speeds through the brightly lit Millbrae Caltrain depot around 2 in the morning. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 10/28/06 16:35 Re: Sunset speed Author: QU25C Damn nice shots Mikey. I have bin working on a sun set shot for 20 years just like yours. well I'm still trying to get it but you ace it, no doubt about it.
