Started out with hundreds of surplus Railway Express Agency ice reefers in the late 60s, early 1970s,but today they've got a huge fleet of mechanicals largely still wearing their pre-SLC paint schemes of Santa Fe, BN(SF), UP(PFE) and Milwaukee Road. Quite a rolling museum. Used for shipping totaters Date: 01/19/07 13:53 Re: SLC Reefers Author: degilchr Thanks for the information. I had read th Trains article but did not get a good understanding of just how much tater shipping remains.
SLRG has been in Walsenburg in the the daylight a few times over the last 2 weeks. One Sunday late afternoon with 4 engines on the point and one on the rear. That was a day with a lot of snow and wind. Expect the pass can be a real challenge on some days. Don G |
