Western Railroad Discussion > More Big Power on the PermanenteDate: 06/11/07 14:52 More Big Power on the Permanente Author: sagehen Here's a pair of SD70's with about 30 cars at the start of the Vasona Branch in San Jose. They are passing the switch and crossing by the hardwood floor company's spur over the VTA trolley car line. The spur's rails are rusty and I haven't seen a car on the spur for a year. I wonder how many cars went over the million dollar crossing?

I hope that company keeps getting cars. It would be nice if the last remnant of the Western Pacific in downtown SJ held on a little bit longer. Z Date: 06/11/07 15:46 Re: More Big Power on the Permanente Author: espeeboy and of note, another Jenks NLR lower nose wings repaint!

Somehow I think the VTA(taxpayers) probably picked up the tab in exchange for the at grade crossing of the UP. Date: 06/12/07 17:32 Re: More Big Power on the Permanente Author: mexrail Golden State, here's the link. Your location was correct.

I've wondered for the last nine or so months why this crossing would be so improved with only a hundred or so yards of overgrown track on the north end. I still suppose we all paid for it. -Rob |
