Actually, it is the seldom mentioned, photographed Johns Manville Branch/Industry track in Willows, CA (Glenn County). It runs westward for about three miles from the California Northern Railroad (CFNR) West Valley Line. It serves only the Johns Manville plant, which supplies fiberglass products including insulation materials.

1) Switching out cars at the end of the line. The plant has its own 'car mover' to bring the cars into the plant.

2) Looking eastward along the Johns Manville track from Interstate 5.

3) The CFNR 111 has just departed the West Valley main and is headed west to Johns Manville. Beyond the plant, there is only agriculture, the Thunderhill Race Track, and the coastal mountains.

And did I mention two--count 'em--TO members in the cab of the 111.

Just as guess, he is a railfan? No names though, but he looks like Billy Bob Plummer

I don't know about the 'Middle of No Where' but I bet you can see the end of the earth from there!

No one who is a native of California is named Billy Bob! They won't even allow it on the birth certificates, although they tried to allow exceptions in Bakersfield.

For Con and others, here is a link to more photos of the California Northern Railroad. Give me a few days and I'll have the photos from Thursday's road trip posted. The photos up now are from about a year ago, as I recall.

For those familiar with northern California geography, the Graymobile got quite a workout:

Chico - Davis - Orland - Davis - Chico in 13 hours.

You shouldn't have given up so early. That would have been my guess since I've foamed that line in recent years. It's almost the middle of nowhere and a ways south of Orland!

We covered the whole line from Davis up to Orland...a lot more to post.
