While BNSFhogger worked the east side of the hill, I spent a dreary day mostly sitting in my Jeep trying to keep dry. In a stereotypical day in the northern Washington Cascades, every shot I took was under a dripping sky.

1) Shortly after theoretical sunrise, Amtrak #7 cruised westward across the Skykomish River near the Money Creek campgrounds.

2) With the clouds thinning but still spitting, an eastbound work extra rolled through Skykomish just before Noon.

3) Where else on BNSF is this still a common sight? Five SD40-2s (and a token GE) held back more than a mile and a quarter of stacks as the Q-STPTAC took a Clear at East Skykomish.

Just looking at those pictures, you would almost never think the BNSF merger ever happened 12 plus years ago.

Not to be regressive, but what is DINA?

DINA = "A Day in North America," the annual Railroads Illustrated (former CTC Board) event that leads to an entire issue devoted solely to depicting railroading across the continent on one more-or-less typical day.
