Western Railroad Discussion > Ohio Crane in RosevilleDate: 11/15/07 11:02 Ohio Crane in Roseville Author: chrisb The old SP Ohio Crane has been in Roseville on Industrial Avenue helping in the removal of an old, but picturesque, bridge and replacement with new, modern concrete (uninteresting) bridge. Crew put in 25 hours yesterday.
The crane has been in California for the last three years. Photo 1 is of the crane and cars Photo 2 is closeup of cab (rear-view) Photo 3 is the old SP Oregon Subdivision Logo chris bekiaris Date: 11/15/07 11:17 Re: Ohio Crane in Roseville Author: jkchubbes Is this the one that sat at Binney Jct for years?

Date: 11/15/07 11:31 Re: Ohio Crane in Roseville Author: graybeard1942 For about the past two years, it has often been parked on the unused portion of the old Tehama Wye along with the 8003. With all of the bridge and culvert upgrades taking place, it has been on the road gradually working south from Gerber toward Roseville.

------------------------------------------------------- > Which old but picturesque bridge would that be? All wood bridge. If you saw it you would see that it looked better than what is there now. Hey it weren't the Eiffel Tower, but it looked good. <g> Reminds me when BNSF in ONE WEEKEND took down old steel truss bridge in Escalon and replaced it with concrete one. Yuck! chris bekiaris Date: 11/15/07 12:51 Re: Ohio Crane in Roseville Author: locohntr nice catch, and thx.for the closup of the logo.

------------------------------------------------------- > Which old but picturesque bridge would that be? The Pleasant Grove Creek bridge (http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/image.aspx?T=4&S=8&Z=10&X=12938&Y=85930&W=3&qs=%7croseville%7cca%7c)and its not in Roseville. The bridge is actually in Rocklin, CA (annexation/turf battle between Roseville and Rocklin resulted in Rocklin owning the land around the bridge. The crane and boom car can usually be found at Sunset-Whitney or the spur just to the north of the bridge. Date: 11/15/07 18:47 Re: Ohio Crane in Roseville Author: upkpfan How about some side views? Thank you. upkpfan
Date: 11/15/07 19:29 Re: Ohio Crane in Roseville Author: gbw311 Without knowing the builder's number, this locomotive
crane looks like a model DE-400S. The Ohio DE series is a diesel electric, i.e. self-propelled, crane. The 400S series has a nominal load capacity of 48 tons or 65 tons when used with outriggers. The actual load capacity depends, in part, on the boom length of each crane. American Ohio crane is now a part of ERS Industries - once known as Eastern Railway Supply. Crane location now correctly located in Rocklin (damn those border wars). Photo 1 is side shot of crane Photo 2 shows hooks. The big guy has a 48 ton capacity Photo 3 is the equipment car or equipment shed on car. chris bekiaris |
