A day in the desert
Author: SoCalRailFan

I decided to take a long desired trip out to the Needles Subdivison on Sunday. I left Riverside at 4:30am and was back home by 5:30pm. Most of the day was centered around Klondike but I managed to get photos everywhere between Hector and Cadiz and then Daggett, Brastow and Oro Grande on my way home. Here's a few of my shots. A full trip report and about 60 shots can be seen at the link below.

This first shot is at sunrise just east of Hector. The second shot is at Klondike of a westbound climbing the grade. The third shot is an eastbound climbing out of Amboy towards Saltus.

Continuing I catch an ethanol train with a KCS Southern Belle in the consist as well as a TFM SD70MAC coming out of Lavic near Pisgah. Next is a westbound coming out of Daggett and into Nebo. The last shot is as the sun sets in Oro Grande as a westbound passes the Riverside Cement Plant. Like I said above to see more photos go to the link below.

Dave,
You never heard it from me, but Winslow should be looking over his shoulder. Nice pics.

Dave,
I echo all of the above comments.....outstanding photos. As John Wayne once said, "ya done good pilgrim." My favorites are the sunrise at Hector and the doublestacks coming out of Daggett.
