Western Railroad Discussion > Bonnie & Clyde bank heist - Argyle, TXDate: 12/22/07 09:49 Bonnie & Clyde bank heist - Argyle, TX Author: WrongWayMurphy The year was 1930 and as the story goes, the bank in Argyle, TX
was held up and wiped out by the notorious duo of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow and has been closed ever since. The current owner, who is an older chap that I have met once, will not let anyone in the structure, not even for a peek. The tracks then were T&P, today Union Pacific's busy Choctaw Sub with additional BNSF rock trains like this one, running daily to Fort Worth. Clyde and brother Buck started stealing turkeys and worked their way up to banks. No record of any train robbery, though. The coppers finally plugged them in Gibsland, LA but only after many more robberies like this one and a trail of machine gun fire and murder.
