Newest CA Shortline: Sacramento Valley R.R.
Author: shed47

Looks like a changing of the guard for the operation of the 7 mile industrial switching operation at the McClellan Business Park in Sacramento with the Yolo Shortline(Sierra Northern) out and a new subsidiary of Patriot Rail, LLC, the Sacramento Valley R.R., in. Reporting marks for the new carrier are SAVR. From the 2-14-08 Federal Register:
http://a247.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/01jan20081800/edocket.access.gpo.gov/2008/E8-2773.htm

Looks to be on the fast track, to be consummated as early as March 1st. Patriot Rail owns three other shortlines: Tennessee Southern, Rarus R.R. and(acquired just last month) Utah Central. Any sign of shortline motive power moving into the Roseville/Sacramento area in recent days? Or maybe just get by with leased Yolo power short term?

I was there yesterday and there is no SVRR power hiding anywhere. The Sierra Northern has been moving equipment and parts from the engine house over the last month. As for whether they will lease SNRR power until theirs shows up, probably since it is 10 days until change over.
