http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,1638975 CEMEX the Mexican Cement producer is receiving a single ES44AC for use at one of their operations. On the other board someone said it would be in South Texas, does anyone on this board know of a CEMEX operation with a rail haul that would justify this large a locomotive? Date: 03/31/08 08:05 Re: CEMEX ES44AC Author: kestrel Between San Antonio and Austin there are several large quarries that are used for cement production. I can see where with the volume of materials they move, a new and under warranty locomotive might be handy. Doug Wooten might be able to better describe Cemex's operation in the area and the volume of cars they handle.

Cemex and former owner (don't recall) has its own rail line, the Western RR (WRRC) which performs the inplant switching and connects plant to the ex-MKT. Here is WRRC info link from UP directory: http://www.uprr.com/customers/shortline/lines/wrr.shtml I'm sure others can bring us all up to date. Mexrail |
