Western Railroad Discussion > New Photo Essay Blog

Last week I received an email from a fellow railroad photographer who wanted me to take a look at a blog that he had started. After looking over it I thought it was pretty cool and decided to start one of my own. His was more about critiquing different styles or shots, mine is going to be mainly photo essays. Im pretty juiced about it right now so you might see a couple pop up in the next week but expect about one every week or two. The first entry to my blog is titled "One Last Night at Ozol".

Very neat Alex, I like the shot of the 'ghostly' switchmen. Looks like a great spot for night shots, the way the yard lights brighten those hills is very cool too!

What makes it a 'blog', or what makes it a 'website', or as compared to a photo data base?

BLOG = weB LOG
a blog is hosted at a website, can be part of one or not.

website is a place (address) on the web, may be a "blog" or photo data base or neither.

corrections/other opinions welcome.

I am not a fan of the word "BLOG", it was coined by old media.

Alex HI. I forwarded your blog/site to a lot of old rails on our retirees email and today i went to the second tues of the month meet we have in oakland , i was told by a couple old timmer they thought your pictures were well done, it brought back memories I will go to the other old rail lunch on the last tues at martinez and see others i know got it and see what they thought. Oh on another Train of thought :] im working on having grant UTe show his slide presentation on the book Alameda by Rail if we can get a high defination projector to hook up to his computor like the show he did in alameda april 27 by the Alameda ///architectural presevation society at the First Presbyterian church saw a number of other foamer/train order people there the projector brought out detail in the pictures it was great. if the old rail club likes it and we get the equipment may be a oppurtunitie for Other rail photgraphers might happen, Who knows ? ED.
