It was interesting to say the least. The train departed ontime without the passengers that got off at Jack London Square who hopped a boat to the city last night. The train pulled forward to 10th st and a GEVO was added to the end of the train which pulled it to Niles Junction. The GEVO was taken off at Shinn and the 7880 and 7750 led the train eastbound. Even though there weren't very many people riding, the UP SA's were out in full force escorting this train all the way to Rosie. Literally following the train and stopping at areas to roll it by. I got pretty close to getting ticketed once but fortunately the train was closer than I thought it was and a UP cop was able to warn me before I tried to run off and get a shot in Niles Canyon (Im sure he would have waited at my car if I did try to go for the shot). I think I even saw one or two riding the train at vestibule doors. Does anyone know what this train is all about? I've heard a lot of crazy rumors like the UP and NS president riding and UP brass meeting with the governator this morning but I really do not know. Anywho... here's some photos.

In San Juan Capistrano you can almost get a shot like that with two CVS Drug Stores!
(Exciting, isn't it?)

What is that first car?

I have never seen the first car before, is it a generator car ?

Wow... pristine shots on Altamont Pass... no wind mills, no landfill, no junkyards. I'm impressed.
