Pomona, CA Situation RESOLVED!
Author: ats90mph

The Pomona Public Works Superintendent was contacted today, and the issue seems to be resolved. He stated that all security staff will be spoken to, as well as the Supervisors, and will be reiterated that photography is ALLOWED and LEGAL. He was extremely concerned that this situation occurred, and is very co-operative is resolving the issue. The only place that is off limits is the center platform which is usually locked at one end. However please don't abuse the hospitality of the City of Pomona by crossing the tracks at unauthorized places, and always behave safely (which I'm sure all of you know). Other than that, enjoy visiting Pomona!

I think the smog must have got to that security guy. This photography thing is getting a little out of hand.

Great news! Thanks for your help in getting this resolved, Ross. It'll be nice to visit the platform during the winter months and try for some photos. Pomona does have the best looking pedestrian overcrossing of the SoCal stations (that have them), IMHO.

I posted this in the original thread, but here is a copy of what I wrote:

I contacted Metrolink over the weekend to ask them what their policy is on taking pictures. I received a response from them this morning. Here is the question that I asked them:

****************************************
Hello,

Can you please tell me if photography is permitted on Metrolink platforms?
If I am not riding a Metrolink train on a certain day, but I would like to
go and take some pictures from a safe location on the platform, is this
okay? Thank you very much.

A. Smith

I believe that is using photos of their trains for commercial purposes, however for non-commercial reasons, it's acceptable without permission. In LA county LACMTA is the one who is responsible for Metrolink, and there policy is non-commercial photos are fine, for commercial reasons or filming, permission must be granted, and a possible fee.

P.S.: No prob Rich, whatever I can do for the railfan community :-)

Me and the wife were up there today. I take train photos and she gets shots of the intersting light on the rocks photos. With todays clouds moving fast we got some good shots. Will probably post tomorrow.

Didn't see anything like a security guy anyplace. And I know we were parked on the property a few times. Got 6 trains in a little over an hour at Hill 582.

Cool and somewhat windy, but no rain or sprinkles, foggy up on the mountain tops.
