Western Railroad Discussion > New UP LA/Lathrop Z Trains

Anybody have any information on the new LA/Lathrop Z trains that UP started running last week? Just read about it on the 'Hub Group' thread from a few days back and was curious about the new service. Am wondering if it's mainly domestic double stacks or more of a tofc/ltl type of operation. It also could be some type of connection with the UP's Lathrop/Atlanta 'Blue Streak' service that was started a couple of years back, so maybe UP''s giving it another big push, especially with the recent news of UP gaining most of Hub Group's Western business. Appreciate any updates.

I have seen this train in the last week threw Mojave a little after noon going North. It is a short train with 2 engines all double stacks cars with HUB containers.

I figured it must have something to do with the new Hub Group biz. From what I've heard there is supposed to be a s/b counterpart as well. Nice to see some new UP business over Tehachapi for a change, which doesn't happen very often these days.

I wouldn't call them "new."
