Cheers, Jack Date: 08/02/09 21:01 Re: Knock off all the hand brakes Author: GBSD70ACe IIRC, that was not the handbrake as the handbrake on those units is on the lead truck not the rear. I think it was a stuck axle (traction motor). Once again IIRC.
Date: 08/02/09 22:04 Re: Knock off all the hand brakes Author: AmtrakHogHead Makes me think back to when i was a student engineer and being told this. "kid..... make sure you check your side view mirrors regulary to check the side of the train." and it was usually followed by " dam^ it kid I told you to always be checking those mirrors; what the he** is wrong with you? "
I have a feeling that engineer and conductor ended up on the carpet over that! not to mention the most likely 30 days or some form of discipline! i know personally my side view mirrors have saved my but a ton of times. Once with a locked axle, an HEP cable making lightning and a fire on my lead unit on the AOE/Grandlux this summer; just to name a few. Those mirrors are a valuable tool. As beaten into me by those crust old heads. (that have forgotten more than I will ever know) Date: 08/03/09 11:48 Re: Knock off all the hand brakes Author: washybryan Thats a traction motor seiced up!! WOW!! Dumb asses....
Date: 08/03/09 17:10 Re: Knock off all the hand brakes Author: HB90MACH It was a seized axle. This was january 23 2008 on the NS Reading line. It was shot by a trainorders member and posted here before on the Eastern board.. I noticed it seams to have made the rounds back to here.
