Western Railroad Discussion > Derailment-Spring Creek, NE

UPRR reports that at 2350 CT 10/16/2007 one of their coal trains derailed 39 cars of loaded coal between Gibbon,Ne. and N.Platte,Ne. at Spring Creek. The derailment is on triple main track with all 3 tracks blocked. Hulcher is on the scene with rerailing equipment and will start pushing the coal and coal cars clear of main tracks to facilitate restoring service. It is reported that there is no signal damage and that at least one main track has minimal if any damage. No estimate of opening at this time.
