Western Railroad Discussion > From the past saved for the PresentDate: 10/24/09 17:57 From the past saved for the Present Author: railtime The UP depot at Hugo, Colorado was a busy division point. The Portland rose stopped here as did the City of St Louis among others. The depot was built in the early 1900's. Today it sits in a city park and used as a community building. It did not meet the wrecking ball.
First two pictures are from the local historical society. The third I took in the snowstorm this week. 1972 the depot was still by the tracks but showing the neglect with peeling paint. 1978 the town of Hugo gets it, loads it up and hauls it down the highway to the its new home. Today it sports fresh paint and remembers its glory days when passengers passed through. thanks for looking john Date: 10/25/09 07:38 Re: From the past saved for the Present Author: Smiff67 Thanks for the post. It is always good to see what happens to "old" rail history when folks care and can get to it before it is demolished.
