Concrete jail cells on flatcar help.
Author: UP4306

All,
Over the last few months I have dove into mold making and casting parts. I would like to build a scale model of these preformed concrete jail cells that are delivered on flat cars. Once a scale model is made I will make a mold and then pour the cells using Ultracal 80.
I am looking for where these jail cells are produced and images that one would like to share of these cells on flat cars.
I post this on the Western Board in hopes someone here knows where these cells are manufactured.
Thank you for any help.

Looking up past TO threads does take some experimenting with the search function. I searched "jail"- too many responses. I searched "jail prefab"- nothing. I searched "jail cell"- small enough response to check headlines to find these- <http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,1859553,1860690#msg-1860690> and <http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,1711633,1711831#msg-1711831> and <http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,1692342,1692461#msg-1692461> and <http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,145713,145713#msg-145713> and <http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,1703611,1703909#msg-1703909> The last one mentions Walters JailRail cars.

Hey, MapBoy,
Thanks for the look up work. One TO link below had a link to a web site that shows they build these things about 100 miles from here. Road trip!

Thank you, again!

I know Tindall Precast in San Antonio makes some, I think that is where the cells used in Forsyth, Missouri came from. They also have some precast plants out east somewhere, and I think at least one of those make precast cells as well.

I would say if you do some looking under "Taney County Jail" you could find some photos of them being shipped at least by truck. Maybe call the local paper there, or even contact the Sheriff's department and tell them what you are looking for. Somebody surely took some pictures, it was locally a pretty big deal as I recall.
