I'm trying to figure out from what direction U.P. 1982 will be arriving in Osawatomie, Ks, later this week? The engine unit is to be on display there from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 24.

I would guess that the engine will be spotted on a siding in Osawatomie a few hours before the exhibit time. But then stranger things have been known to happen.

Did anyone spot the engine today (Monday), four-plus days prior to the Osawatomie "exhibition"?

I haven't heard anything at this time. I also understand that the Katy unit is to be on display in Parsons this weekend as well and rumor has it that the 1989 is supposed to be on a business train as well. Unable to confirm any whereabouts of the afor mentioned.

If 1982 arrives in Osawatomie from the south on the Coffeyville Sub., the engineer will only have to back it onto the siding that is slated for use. Boy, it would sure be handy to pull it out on the main line on Sunday to hitch a ride behind the northbound 844. Or would others prefer it lead 844?

With the Katy Heritage unit at Parsons this weekend, it very well may be that three U.P. Heritage units will be in Eastern Kansas at the same time.

(My contacts in Osawatomie, as of this afternoon, say that 844 will not make a stop in Osawatomie --- only Paola, as previously announced.)
