The normally placid Elkhorn River was the undoing of the C&NW line between Norfolk and Blair sometime back in the 80's.

And of course the highway next to the flooded ROW looks just
as bad. The old crossing at Nickerson was under water, the
stretch north of Hooper was under water. If the Cowboy line
had the tax support that the highway has got it would still
be there.
