A friend and I want to go to the High Desert in April to railfan. We are also fans of "The Right Stuff". I have found satellite photos of the remains of Pancho's Happy Bottom Riding Club but it appears to be on Edwards property. Is there any public access? If not, it is possible to arrange to see the site?

It's been awhile since I was at Edwards AFB, but if memory serves it should be near the Rod and gun club on base. The base is an opened or was if you can gain access you should be able to see what left of the club. When I was there briefly in the 70's it was a occaasional spot for vistors.

I spent a few days on a shoot with Chuck Yeager a few years ago. Fun guy.
Asked him about "The Right Stuff" and how authentic the character portrayals were.
"They didn't get Pancho right..." he said. "She wasn't ugly enough in the movie."

Thanks for the link. I had to look around and see what was on the flight line and practice my aircraft identification skills.
