UP is doing some ties replacement and have the line down. There is a work caboose parked in Alamo though if anybody comes through. I saw it come this weekend and as of last night if was still there. I know that it is supposed to be the UP's preferred line from Chicago to LA, but I spent 4 hours trainwatching in Alamogordo on December 24 and saw only one train. It was worth it because it was a stack train with a winged SD70M on the point (my first). I was hoping to see alot more. Was it just a bad day or are there other reasons why there aren't that many trains on this line.
