BN "Grinstein" Green origin trivia on Eastern Board
Author: highgreengraphics

The origin of the "Grinstein" Green on BN (later BNSF) MAC's and executive train was not known by me, perhaps more correctly should be "Fletcher" Green, read the Eastern Board post of 3-25 10:31 "Artistry On Track" and go to clickable link Roanoke.com of The Roanoke Times, in paragraph 13 it states that 18-year-old Andy Fletcher designed BN's "Grinstein" green and cream paint scheme. I didn't know that, did you?

And the rest of his life is pretty fascinating, too! === === = === JLH

Thought it was Grinsteins wife who came up with it.

I heard the same story while working for BN.

To be precise, Grinstein's wife chose the colors and Andy designed how it would be applied to locomotives. Don't blame him for the colors! LOL

I think the colors and the design are perfect for the SD70Mac's but it would have been better it still had the BN logo.

Its very true. Andy Flecher did design the cream and green scheme in the 1990's.

I hope he collected some sort of credit from ARR and FEC, who copied the design.
