Heading to Albia Iowa - Can Winter be Far Behind?
Author: rrartist

BNSF train U-NTWALA (Northtown to Albia Iowa) strolls along just south of La Crosse WI at a blistering 30mph behind EMDX #9005 and Rotary BN #972553. One has to wonder is Winter that far behind and or will this rotary get rebuilt and lose it's BN paint in turn for a fresh coat of H-3 like it's sister out in Alliance NE?

Several of the blades look pretty bent-up; has it been out-of-service for awhile? I guess it is headed to Relco at Albia for work?

I'd vote for fresh mineral red. The "H3" plow, while sharp enough, seems a bit silly for an MofW piece. Never mind--that scheme is silly on anything.
Super looking Oakway there, by the way.

This plow self-destructed while working in MN this past winter. Relco has done the work on the other two refurbished plows, safe bet this is going there too.

Who needs a rotary? Please note the shot of TIOGA PASS parked next to a CP snowplow built in 1928, and still in use. The car body is tongue and groove oak!! What a classic!

Jim, if it get's H3, it would be the thrid one in
that scheme, as the former Q plow, assigned to Lincoln,
got it when it was repaired. The Alliance plow is a
former NP plow, so this would make one of each of the
BN predessors making it into H3. Who'd a thunk it.

With all of this work being done to the rotary snowplow fleet, maybe we can get the former Santa Fe plow repaired and back on the road!

Not to digress too much, but in the the middle '50s, going from
St. Louis to Minneapolis, I routed myself (todays 'rare Mileage'),
via Wabash to Albia, M&StL to Manly, thence CRI&P to Mpls..
Neat trip..M&StL was doodlebug pulling a new Budd 44seat chair car..
Those were the days my friend, I thought would never end...

Is RELCO locked up tight, or what? I don't think I've ever seen a picture of their Albia facility.
