Alaska Railroad SD70MACs with HEP
Author: AK

Hi there,

Check out this news. The ARR is supposedly ordering the last 8 SD70MACs to be built and they will have HEP in them.

Also the 2 F40 Control cab HEP units are finished and waiting approval for shipment.

The news is listed on the same Yahoo Group, but I'm having trouble getting to the site. There's a pic. posted in the photo section in the Yahoo Group, but you may have to be a member to access photos.

Be interesting to see how these end up looking. Anyone have more info?

Still wishing they had kept the GP49 era blue and yellow. Like that so much better than the BNSF knock-off scheme.

Forum,
The CLP version of this locomtive has two Cummins L6 engined generators in the rear most section for HEP.

These locomotives were used by Australia National Passenger division for the Ghan and the Indian Pacific.

The Locomotives are part of ARG fleet now and the HEP is used irregularly now - they are used mainly for freight work but the power plants are still in situ.
