Switcher Saturday: Tulsa OK . . .
Author: SCKP187

On a couple occasions last month making a so and pu on the UP and BNSF connections in downtown Tulsa OK, Sand Springs Ry. shows of well kept #100 and later in the week #101-102 doing the honors. This may be their entire fleet, I'm not sure as I havn't visited the property since the 80s. Sand Springs Ry. main function is to furnish service to a steel foundry (currently in a 2 yr? shutdown to remodel for EPA) and several scrap metal yards west of the Tulsa metro area. In the 70s they ran further into Tulsa and connected with MKT and Midland Valley and SantaFe and got their original start in business running a commuter trolley line approx 6 miles from Sand Springs to Tulsa.
Thanks for looking

I think 100-102 is their entire roster. All SW900s if I recall correctly.

Thanks for posting. Not a railroad seen very often.
