Amtrak 40th Anniversary Train Pics
Author: Amtrakdavis22

Amtrak's 40th anniversary train made a trip to Sacramento. It was parked near the California State Railroad Museum. Many people visited the exhibit while in Old Town. I took a walk through it and I must say it was awesome. They really have a good setup in those cars and I would suggest visiting it if you can. They were open Saturday and Sunday and then they traveled to Oakland on Wednesday. Here are the shots I was able to get of the train. Enjoy!

Photo 1- As the sun sets in the Sacramento Valley, Amtrak 822 races the 40th anniversary train west towards it's final destination of Oakland, CA. Amtrak 822 and 406 are a nice lashup leading a very interesting looking train. It will be on display at Oakland this weekend and then will head south towards Bakersfield. Photo taken 11/9/11.

Photo 2 and 3- Amtrak 822 sits idle in Old Sacramento on the Sacramento Southern Lines. The turntable and the Railroad Museum sit on the right of the frame.

Photo 1- Another shot of 822 as it sits idle in Old Sacramento. I was lucky how the clouds parted right as I got there.

Photo 2- Another shot of the train at the Yolo Causeway as it comes west through Davis, CA.

Photo 3- The engineer of Amtrak's westbound California Zephyr watches the sunset from the comfort of UP 5279 as it races through the Sacramento Valley near Davis, CA.

Enjoy!

Now that's a good looking set of power.

What'd they do, pull those two out of the deadline at Bear?

Where does they have access to the Old Sacramento trackage from?
Did they place a temporary diamond down?

They place a temporary diamond across the Martinez Sub and run it up around until that track connects with the mainline near Haggin.
