Coal Loads over Cajon
Author: tgcostello

It has been a dry "rainy season" here in Southern California, with little snow on the San Gabriel Mountains to the west of Cajon. Monday's rain and a business meeting in Hesperia gave me cause to stop at Cajon for an hour to see what might roll by my camera. The opportunity to photograph westbound UP coal loads was a treat. The four GEs were hauling 90 hoppers of mixed heritage: UP, CNW, MP, DRGW and CTRN re-badged BN.

These photos have been cropped and post-processed in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

Glad to share these with the community, with my thanks for all the contributions from other photographers that I enjoy on a daily basis.

The following photos were taken at Summit. They include a capture of the tail end of the UP westbound coal loads.

Great catch of the two trains at once at Blue Cut.

That export coal train should have been from the one from Savage, UT. Looks like the export moves from there have resumed. No mention of any other export loads coming from Somerset, CO. for the time being.
