ATSF 3751 and the San Bernardino Railroad days today
Author: PasadenaSub

Here's some pictures of today's run. I set up for my primary shot in La Verne on Metrolink's San Gabriel Sub. My plan was to then follow the train to San Bernardino, hoping it might stop to meet an inbound Metrolink weekend train. However, when westbound #357 showed up first - I knew the special would have a clear shot at least to around Cucamonga or Fontana.

1) Metrolink Train #357, as mentioned above - pushing past my location at the parking lot for Gainey Ceramics, a little bit west of Wheeler Avenue.

2) The special a few minutes after 11am. Though I was on the wrong side of the tracks, all of the sun was on the nose anyway.

3) I headed east to CP Rochester in Rancho Cucamonga, hoping the steamer might be in the siding there to meet Metrolink #359. However, it seems that the meet occured a bit further east in Fontana - as #359 used the RC siding to meet eastbound #358 - pictured here.

4-6) When I got to the San Bernardino depot, the special had been there a little while. Here's a few pics like everyone else got.

7-9) More to see around the depot today. The last shot was from the Metrolink parking structure, which came in very handy for the crowds on this hot day (felt like low-mid 90's around noon).

Thanks for the views,

Rich

I liked the black and white picture at San Berdoo showing the old Santa Fe chimney in the background. That's a nostalgia shot.
