"BNSF Rail Train Visits 'MH' Tower..."
Author: aussiehinz

This afternoon, I was greeted by the rather rare sight of a "freight" on the BNSF passenger mains leading westward from Chicago Union Station out in front of "MH" (my house). It was in the form of a welded rail train working the North Track. While unloading some new rail, likely for the big curve under Canal Street immediately to the east of "MH", Amtrak #3, today's "Southwest Chief" also passed by departing town on the South Track. Fast moving clouds were the norm here in the Windy City all afternoon. Here are some views.

Cheers,

aussiehinz

1. Easing west, the rail train on the North Track pops into a bit of elusive sunshine.

2. Under the watchful eye of the Sears, er.. "Willis" Tower.

3. Strings of welded rail await unloading.

4. Amtrak #3 scoots by on the South Track, on time at 3:04 pm CDT.

5/6 . A couple photos of the Herzog apparatus on the rear end of the rail train as it slowly moves west toward Western Avenue.
