Western Railroad Discussion > UP Sharing the Coast LineDate: 05/29/12 21:30 UP Sharing the Coast Line Author: ats90mph While reading a document published by SANDAG, I discovered some interesting info about ROW ownership on the former SP Coast Line...
"...From Redondo Junction north to Burbank Junction, the railroad is owned by Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), also an SCRRA member agency. From Burbank Junction north, ownership of the corridor is split between MTA and Union Pacific (UP). Where the ROW is generally 100 feet wide, UP owns 60 feet of the ROW and MTA the remaining 40 feet." Are these ROW agreements common? Now the important question, how do you know who's property your trespassing on ?:-) Date: 05/29/12 22:59 Re: UP Sharing the Coast Line Author: Out_Of_Service ats90mph Wrote:

Many CA cities wont even send out the cops if your car has been broken into and stuff stolen..Do you really think they are going to send somebody out when you are walking on RR ROW? Metrolink contracts with LA Co Sheriff to patrol their ROW (even in Orange County), and they do write tickets for tresspassing. I know people who have had the pleasure of receiving them.
