It has been HOT in the Imperial Valley of CA. No other way to say it. After being a bit lazy yesterday and not wanting to leave the air conditioned comfort of home, I did decide to head out today to photograph the outbound UP MECWC.

A rather short train today seen here at Larsen Rd in Imperial Ca.....

enjoy !

Nice-n-HOT. My brother sent me this photo of the ambient Temp in Blythe! I think this is *near* El Centro?

Glad I was working in San Francisco with the FOG rolling in and a temp of 62 at the time.

Thanks for the photos!

Rob

Blythe's about 100 miles from El Centro. Blythe is on the Colorado River. El Centro is down near the border.

You'd think that buck nineteen would be a dry heat but between the monsoons and the huge amount of
water they pour on the alfalfa it usually isn't.

Nice stuff Tony, it looks hot! Was about 106 around Lancaster this afternoon, which I thought was bad. Guess I'm glad I wasn't down in that heat ;-)

Thanks for sharing,

What makes this heat EVEN more fun
is when you have to go out and repair
derailment damage!!
Especially having to use a cutting torch!

Most of Bay Area(incl. Marin) is predicted to enjoy triple digits remainder of week, so we'll get our taste(watch out for Sun kinks on NWP.

Not so fast, Steve. Yes, triple digits likely in East Bay (Livermore, Dublin) and South Bay (San Jose, Gilroy.) But you in San Carlos and me in Brisbane should be comfortably in double digits, Brisbane highs in low 70's for the week and San Carlos mid 80's. So enjoy the week with no chance of sun kinks on the Caltrain/UP tracks, except possibly from San Jose south to Gilroy!
