Variety Today on UP's Lynndyl Sub
Author: GrandeGold

While most of the traffic on UP's Lynndyl Sub between Salt Lake City and Milford is rather predictable, today Uncle Pete threw in a couple of interesting moves between the usual suspects . . .

1-2. UP's KTSLN4-02 K-Line stack train heads east through the cut at milepost 757.75, just east of Erda siding.

3-4: UP's WVPMUZ-03 Herzog ballast empty heads west for reloading at Murdock, Utah. Dispatcher 5 has the siding at Erda set for a meet with a manifest coming east at Warner.

5-6: Today's MWCNP-03 (West Colton, CA - North Platte, NE) is a 10,733 foot monster. Minutes after meeting the ballast empty, it glides east down Erda hill at milepost 758.

7-9: Saving the best for last, UP ran a customer special west out of Salt Lake City, the SSJCFW-01 with 54 loads of Vesta towers. It is pictured climbing Erda Hill at milepost 760, near Lake Point. A fitting end to an interesting afternoon of trainspotting in Utah's Tooele Valley.

Due to the derailment near Caliente, the Vestas will likely be tied down somewhere near Milford until the mess is cleaned up.

Thanks for looking,

James, I was working in the UTA yard today, and I saw that windmill train come rolling through...
