Western Railroad Discussion > Black, or yellow?

Nice treat on yesterdays OE Express on the Portland & Western Railroad. A fairly matched pair of former SP SD-45s in matching paint led the Southbound and later northbound versions of this log hauling train. And we get to see if we like the yellow pilot of the 3052 as seen on the Southbound train, seen south of Salem, OR, or the black pilot as seen on the 3053 on the nothbound train in the same area.

They haul pre-cut logs?? Good to see the ex-SP stuff still running, even in those colors!

I suppose I prefer the yellow pilot. Those big ole plows look pretty cool in fresh bright yellow paint.

There are logs and finished lumber going both directions. Depends on who ordered what from whom!

Are these real SD45's with 645 V-20's, or are they SD40 clones with V-16's.?
