Warbonnet GP60Ms for Wednesday...
Author: PasadenaSub

Last Friday, I wound up catching BNSF's Pasadena Local in 3 locations in the very short distance between Glendora and Azusa, CA - something unheard of in the past. But with the train still stopping to flag every grade crossing, it has slowed the pace from the 40mph of just a few years ago. GP60Ms 155 and 159 are still showing up often recently.

1-2) The short two-car train east of Lorraine Ave. in Glendora

3) The familiar shot at the Pasadena Avenue cantilever signal bridge.

4-5) At the overpass bridge at Palm Avenue in Azusa, near the new Rosedale Housing complex.

Thanks for the views,

Why do they need to flag the crossings? Aren't the crossing signals working?

Last I heard, the signals were all showing red and you had to flag the signals.

Not exactly sure if they're doing it to adhere to some rule with the ABS being down - or if they don't trust that the gates are functioning properly. At first they would to do it at every other crossing, but now it seems they creep up on every one between Lone Hill and Pasadena Ave. in Azusa.

The GP60B units are indeed in service. One got rebuilt with a cab from a Union Pacific SD40-2. No others so far, have received that conversion. They are spread out from the Pacific Northwest (Pasco, WA) to the mid-west (Galesburg, IL). The B-units are also in local and regional service. The GP60B's are no longer in the Warbonnet paint scheme. They are the only class of locomotives on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe with all units repainted. Heritage I and the "wedge" scheme.
