The 1ST photo was taken at 10:46AM Yesterday as the Last UP Riverside Local, crossed the BNSF Diamond for the last time

What took them so long?

Reminds one a song like "What a difference a day makes, twenty four little hours". Damn,
another physical part of a memory vanishing! I wonder how long it takes for the BNSF to
get switching rights and the UP to fore go the four hours waiting to get track time to get
down there.

I could be wrong, but I imagine this changeover from UP to BNSF was all part of the plan when construction of the Colton flyover started. I would also assume, that all further switching of the "old" PE/SP/UP remnant will be done by the good old San Jac!

About 100 feet in front of this SP train today was a Red Track Flad and Derail and beyond that the pile of Panel Track and Rails removed from the Crossing

Removal of the crossing diamond and replacing it with a switch simplifies the future CTC to be put on the San Jac if the Perris Valley Line passenger project gets built. The alternative may have been power derails all around.

The ex-Santa Fe line north of the diamond had an interested "staggered pair" of inoperative distant signals near the Palmyrita Ave. crossing: a northbound one for the main line junction and a southbound one for the signal at the diamond.

Is the new connection going to be signaled as well? If not, I'm guessing the southbound distant will be going away.

Pic 2 is a sad shot, hopefully someone saved the wig wag, and I doubt the San Jac should work more than what it does now with 2 12 hour shifts!

What wig wag? There's been nothing but a set of crossbucks at Rustin Street for years.

Drove by today, the signals on the Santa Fe had their heads turned away from the track and are OOS.
The Distant "signal" down by the Blaine street crossing is OOS too and is now laying on the ground.

There is a wig wag on the Riverside Branch at M Street in Colton, Ca. I think that is what he was asking about.
