Great stuff, Steve. Lots of angles I hadn't thought of in my visits there.

the builder is the perfect train for the location showcased in the first photo, and i'll admit (piggybacking on rich) i never thought of that until seeing this post.

glad you caught the ballast train that has been working the area for the last couple of weeks along the portland sub. forty years away, but you didn't miss a step!
beautiful work steve.

These photos are amazing and full of drama. But, they seem really edited and sometimes grainy...what do you use to edit?

Adobe PS Elements. No grain. You may be seeing rain in some shots. None were over-processed.

Not to pick nits Steve, but I think of pix 2 as being right below Moody at the mouth of the Deschutes River, which is a mile or so from Celilo

Great pictures. I've been through there once, but it was before I seriously got back into the hobby. Next year, a major swing in this direction is definitely in the planning stage.

This entire photographic series has to be of award winning status tho
I'm not qualified to be a judge in such things. It shows so much about
modern railroading in a unique area of the country. The composition of
each visual, the variety of trains on BOTH sides of the River, weather
changes, vivid colors, scene settings, contrasts, varied train lengths and
motive power configurations. Had to chuckle over the stubby Amtrak Spokane/
Portland one half Empire Builder with two locos yet! Not often seen. The
author must be gifted with a world of staying power and resolve to catch
some of the scenes at those specific times....not to mention the skills
level. Add it all up and all I can say is Wow several times and I DID. Made
the day for me.
