Western Railroad Discussion > UP West of Denver this past weekDate: 11/24/12 11:00 UP West of Denver this past week Author: SP8595 Just some grab shots taken on the Moffat Tunnel line West out of Denver.
1)UP 7156 fronts this Denver to Salt Lake City manifest 50 miles from Denver located at East Portal siding on Nov. 16th. In a matter of seconds, the train will enter the over 6 mile long Moffat Tunnel and cross under the Continental Divide. 2)UP 7226 is stopped on the main at the East end of Tabernash siding on Nov. 17th with an Eastbound loaded coal train heading for the Public Service of Colorado's Cherokee plant located in Denver. Unfortunately the plant that this train serves is supposed to change over to Natural Gas in the coming years. 3)An odd GE-EMD-GE-EMD consist is leading this Westbound coal empty with AC4400CW 5734, GP40-2 1526, AC4400CW 6873 and SD70ACe 8775 are seen in the siding at Rollinsville on Nov. 18th.
