Genset Loco manufacture location
Author: DKay

Some days ago Trainjunkie posted some pics of Genset loco UPY2005 out and about in Dolores yard(LA).
So,I was a little surprised to see it feature on TV last night down here in Australia. The show was called Megastructures breakdown.
They dismantled an old CN GP9 (chop nose),and used just the frame to fabricate a new genset loco.In the background in a lot of the shots was UPY2005.Where in the US are these built. The program must have been made for European viewing ,because the used Euros to describe the cost of each stage of the manufacture.

The specific genset in question was manufactured by National Railway Equipment at their Dixmoor, Illinois facility. The link provided above can give you additional information.
